Mfuwe Lodge Offer

Hotel description

Set inside the park, just five minutes’ drive from the main gate, the Mfuwe lodge’s allure is instantly obvious. Beneath a canopy of ebony and mahogany, its thatched buildings are arranged around the banks of two lagoons where an endless stream of wildlife will keep you enthralled.

It is situated in a prime location in the South Luangwa Park. It overlooks the Mfuwe Lagoon which is home to a large pod of hippos and is covered in brilliant green Nile cabbage - it is very pretty. In the dry season, the lagoon decreases in size but attracts greater numbers of wildlife to these small oases.

Mfuwe Lodge is quite grand and impressive; it's a plush lodge which is wonderful for some relaxing and pampering. You can sit on your balcony and there's always something to see from the hippos and birds to animals coming to drink from the waters.

Room description

Scattered along two lagoons' shady banks lie 18 thatched chalets (2 suites, 3 family rooms, 3 doubles, and 10 twin rooms) from where you can enjoy your own private piece of Africa. After the recent extensive refurbishments it is now one of the smartest and most modern lodge and it combines really well with its sister bushcamps –which are in the remote southern end of South Luangwa National Park.

Secluded covered verandas look out over wallowing hippo and thirsty game in the lagoons, while the newly refurbished African interiors are the perfect place to wind down with their comfortable sitting rooms and en-suite bathrooms with panoramic walk-in showers.
Indoors, an impressive library offers a cooler and quieter place to chill out.

Voted best lodge in Zambia in 2009 Mfuwe Lodge also offers you the chance to relax at its Bush Spa and you will find a double and a single treatment room, as well as a Jacuzzi area.

13 of the chalets are Mfuwe Lodge's standard rooms: single-storey rooms with a small lounge area and beech wood writing desk in the corner. The remaining rooms – three family suites and two honeymoon suites are on two storeys.

The Director's House is a private thatched house and is a perfect choice for small groups and families to stay in. The House can take a minimum of 4 adults.

Specialities

The game-viewing potential at Mfuwe Lodge and the surrounding area is second-to-none.

Drives are led by our experienced team of guides, setting out at first light, and then again in the late afternoon when the wildlife is at its most active. After sundowners, spotlights are used to pick out a new cast of nocturnal creatures.
