Pioneer Camp
is the most relaxing campsite around Lusaka. It is the last oasis stopover
on the way to South Luangwa and Malawi. Pioneer camp is the ideal place to
start when visiting Zambia. It is a safe and clean place, child-friendly and
the advice of the expert staff is a great way to start your Zambian journey.
Accommodation
The campsite and simple chalets share charcoal-heated showers (hot water in
the evening, only warm in the morning, unless big groups are in camp). The
smarter 'safari' chalets, a short distance from the main camp, have private
bathrooms. Braai packs, home cooked meals, vegetarian meals, snacks, freezer
space and ice are available. There is also a children's playground and
trampoline.
Dining
At the centre of the Pioneer Camp is the bar/restaurant. The room is always
open and contains a pool table, satellite TV, darts, information desks (a
good source of information on driving conditions in Zambia) and a relaxed
couch. The bar is open from 16.00 hours till 22.30 hours and is hosted by
Alfred. Dinner is served from 18.00 hours onwards.
