New Airbus A330-200 almost in Air Namibia Fleet

The Namibian national airline is eagerly awaiting the delivery of the brand new Airbus A330-200, which is scheduled for later this month. The new plane will be the first of two Airbus A330-200 to be added to Air Namibia’s fleet, with the second plane being expected to be delivered in November 2013.

The A330s will come in a seat configuration of 244 seats, of which 30 are in business class and 214 in the economy class. Business Class seats will be full flat beds (180 degrees flat), while all seats in the aircraft including economy class will have video and audio on demand with individual monitors for each passenger.

The A330-200 aircraft were built and configured in line with Air Namibia requirements and standards. Air Namibia’s General Manager for Commercial Services, Xavier Masule, said that the A330-200 was found to be most suited for the airline’s operations and conditions, given lower operating cost, high dispatch reliability, flexibility and appeal to customers.

Some added features of the A330-200 in business class of the aircraft include:

  • In-flight entertainment screens in the back of seat in front, with video on demand with games (also in economy class)
  • Rising armrests that form individual privacy screens
  • Water bottle and general storage
  • Shoe storage and literature pocket
  • PC power, headphone port and USB data port.
