Ethiopian Airlines

ET is advertising ‘Shanghai’ in the local news media with a caption ‘Explore the modern heart of China’ with daily flights on a Boeing 787 aircraft from 29th March 2014

Effective 08th July 2014 ET is increasing its Addis Ababa – London Heathrow services, with the addition of a 7th weekly flight. The new flight operates on Tuesdays, on a Boeing 787-8 aircraft.


Connect to more of the world with the Emirates A380. Say hello to space and comfort in the Emirates A380, flying to over 20 destinations worldwide, including Hong Kong twice daily. EK is also advertising that their First class passengers can refresh in the EK First class shower spa.  First and business class passengers can also enjoy the onboard lounge.

QANTAS and South African Airways

Are ending their codeshare partnership. Reservations for their codeshare operation on/after 01JUN14 is closed. Currently, QANTAS codeshares on SAA’s Perth – Johannesburg service, while SAA codeshares on QANTAS’ Sydney – Johannesburg route.

Kenya Airways

Effective 01st July 2014 KQ is increasing operations to Kigali and Bujumbura, as overall services for both airports increases from 21 to 24 flights weekly. The additional 3 weekly flights (KQ442) is served by an Embraer E170.

Effective 19th February 2014 is cancelling its Nairobi – Abu Dhabi operation, where it previously operated 3 weekly flights with a Boeing 737-700 aircraft. KQ will continue to serve Abu Dhabi via a codeshare service with ETIHAD.


The african low-cost carrier fastjet has revealed that it will increase capacity on its new route between Dar es Salaam in Tanzania and Lusaka in Zambia to meet strong customer demand, and has predicted it would further grow frequencies to a daily service on the route in the future. The airline only launched the route, its second outside Tanzania, on February 3rd , 2014 although it had said at that time that it hoped to be able to increase capacity on the route in the future.  It started with a twice-a-week service and will now add a third rotation each Tuesday from April 15th , 2014 after experiencing high load factors on the route including several full flights. The establishment of the Lusaka - Dar es Salaam route is expected to boost the growing trade relationships between the neighboring countries, making it easier for entrepreneurs, tourists and other visitors to travel between them, at an affordable cost.

Proflight Zambia

In order to offer a balanced schedule on the Lusaka- Dar es Salaam route, Proflight will discontinue its Friday frequency with effect from 21 March 2014. Proflight continue to operate Monday & Wednesday with new reduced through fares via Lusaka to/from Lilongwe, Livingstone, Solwezi, Mfuwe and Ndola.

Passengers already booked will be contacted and offered alternative routing or a full refund. The special Easter direct flight Lusaka-Zanzibar on 18 April will operate as planned.
