Victoria Falls Adventure - The Elephant Hills Hotel

Area description

Victoria Falls is one of the world’s most breathtaking natural wonders, straddling the mighty Zambezi River and forming the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe. The Kololo tribe, who once inhabited the area, aptly named it ‘Mosi-oa-Tunya’—‘The Smoke that Thunders’—for the immense spray and thunderous roar of the cascading water. Recognized as the largest curtain of falling water on Earth when measuring both width and height, the falls offer a spectacle unlike any other.

During the peak of the rainy season, over 500 million cubic meters (17 billion cubic feet) of water surge over the edge each minute, tumbling across a span of nearly two kilometers (over a mile) into a gorge more than 100 meters (around 300 feet) deep. The rising spray, visible from miles away, is a striking testament to the sheer power and grandeur of nature.

Among the many viewpoints at Victoria Falls, the Knife-Edge Bridge offers one of the most spectacular perspectives. From here, visitors can admire sweeping views of the Eastern Cataract, the Main Falls, and the Boiling Pot—the dramatic point where the Zambezi River twists sharply into the Batoka Gorge. Other remarkable vantage points include Livingstone Island, the iconic Falls Bridge, and the thrilling Devil’s Pool. For those seeking panoramic views of the Main Falls, the Lookout Tree provides an unforgettable outlook over this natural wonder.
