Livingstone plans major tourism facelift
The Zambian government has launched the Livingstone Town Centre Development Programme to boost tourism by upgrading roads, streetlights, and urban infrastructure. Backed by US$100 million from the World Bank, the initiative aims to ease congestion and improve visitor experience in Livingstone, which receives most of the country’s tourists.
Industry leaders support the plan, highlighting the need for better connectivity, diversified attractions beyond Victoria Falls, and improved air access. They also stress the importance of reducing operating costs and enhancing public spaces to make Livingstone a more competitive and welcoming destination.
