Tanzania To Introduce New Passenger Facilitation Fee For International Air Travel

- The Government of the United Republic of Tanzania has formally announced the introduction of a new Passenger Facilitation Fee, which will be implemented under the VI Tax Code and will take effect from November 1, 2025. This fee will apply to all international air passengers traveling into or out of Tanzania.

According to the directive, the fee structure is as follows:

  • US$45 (R794) per passenger for one-way international journeys into Tanzania
  • US$90 (R1,588) per passenger for international return trips
  • Infants under the age of two years will be exempt from the fee

This measure is part of the government’s broader fiscal and infrastructural strategy aimed at enhancing passenger services and supporting aviation-related developments across the country’s international airports. The fee will be collected by airlines on behalf of the Tanzanian Revenue Authority and is expected to be incorporated into ticket pricing.

South African carriers Airlink and FlySafair have confirmed that the Passenger Facilitation Fee will apply to their respective routes to Dar es Salaam and Zanzibar.
