Airlink Unlocks New Cape Town–Mauritius Link

- Regional South African carrier Airlink has announced the launch of twice-weekly direct flights between Cape Town and Mauritius, with services set to begin on 2 October 2026. The new route marks the airline’s first direct connection between the Mother City and the Indian Ocean island destination, creating a new travel link between two of Africa’s leading leisure and business hubs.

The service will be operated by Airlink’s Embraer E195-E2 aircraft, configured with 124 seats across business and economy class in a 2-2 layout, ensuring no middle seats throughout the cabin. The airline said schedules are being designed around convenient daylight travel times to appeal to both holidaymakers and business travellers.

The new route strengthens Airlink’s growing regional network and complements its existing Johannesburg–Mauritius services, offering additional capacity and flexibility for travellers. It also opens new opportunities for the travel trade to package twin-centre holidays combining Cape Town’s tourism attractions with Mauritius’ beach resorts.

For travel professionals across southern Africa, the route is expected to improve connectivity for leisure, honeymoon and corporate travel markets while reflecting the broader rise of point-to-point regional air travel across the continent.
