Proflight Zambia to grow Jetstream 41 fleet to nine with ex-Eastern Airways aircraft purchase
- Southern Africa's regional aviation sector continues to evolve, with Proflight Zambia announcing plans to expand its fleet through the acquisition of three BAe Jetstream 41 turboprop aircraft previously operated by Eastern Airways (UK) Ltd. Once finalised, the transaction will increase the airline's Jetstream 41 fleet to nine aircraft, further strengthening its position as Zambia's leading scheduled carrier.
The Jetstream 41 has become a key component of Proflight Zambia's operations, providing an efficient and cost-effective solution for regional and lower-density routes where larger aircraft may not be commercially viable. The additional aircraft are expected to improve operational flexibility, support increased frequencies and create opportunities for further network expansion.
The fleet growth is particularly significant for Zambia's tourism industry, where reliable regional air connectivity plays an important role in linking travellers to destinations such as Livingstone, Mfuwe, Kasama, Solwezi and Ndola. Additional capacity could also support the development of new regional connections across Southern Africa, benefiting both leisure and corporate travellers.
